BP Oil Patterns On Beach in Louisiana

Does it seem like humankind as a whole is now reaping the consequences of being careless? All those situations where we have “cut corners” and “taken the easy way” are now apparently coming back to haunt us.

Why is there oil polluting the Gulf of Mexico? Why wouldn’t something this serious be handled with more urgency? Was it because too much work was contracted out to the cheap labor companies instead of the ones that would do the job right? How do you think this will affect BP’s bottom line?

Why is our economy struggling to climb out of a recession? Was it really because big banks, car companies, and investment companies were showing investors and home buyers the numbers we wanted to see vs. the numbers that we needed to see?

Time for Change

Now is the time to accept our failures and re-embrace the values that our parents and grandparents taught us.

  • Choose quality over quantity.
  • Steady wins the race.
  • Waste not, want not.
  • And remember to take time to be happy.

I realized that we will probably never know all the answers to these questions. The important thing is to get back up and do things right this time.

“Those who can’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” – George Santayana
